Think it's a wise move getting it back on the road, people may have looked at the ebay ad and thought there was more to do than you had put, simply because it wasn't on the road.

Hopefully once it's a going concern then people will want to buy it more. :D
Cheers,
Dave

Something in the back of my mind says if Maestros weren't used for a while the over temperature/overheating light used to come on as a test - could be wrong though. Had a brown 1.3L Maestro for a while and that would do it if the battery went flat from lack of use.

It's very much a niche car though, partly because first of all it's a Maestro and as such has a limited (but loyal) following and secondly because it's modified.

I'm sure once you've sorted its little foibles and got a years test on it that you'll have more chance of selling it though. :D

Dave

turbo fitted next is the mot, have done a few bits and bobs already, wiring sorted so windows work properly now, even the wipers work better, electric seats are better will try the heaters some time.. just need to sort out the emissions now, might need to give it a drive.. it run the mems 1.9 wasted spark system and i cannot remember whether it needs some use to self learn and sort itself out... regards ricky

I think the MEMS all need time to self-learn once the battery has been off Ricky - traineefarmer Tom would probably be your best bet to ask on that one for sure.

All progress is good progress though! :D

MEMS needs a few hundred miles to fully adapt itself, but can iron out funny misfires and wayward emmision quite quickly. It does need proper driving though. Idling and revving while stationary won't do it.

That's a long way out. I'd suspect something more than just wayward management. Dead lambda?

will have to dig out the diag lead and connect it up I think.. took it for a run and still the same on the emissions. no smoke from the exhaust but when I stopped at the lights I had smoke pouring out from the bonnet... turns out water was leaked onto the exhaust manifold during the turbo fitting process and had soaked into the wrapping, took ages to clear.. need to set up the boost now kept fuel cutting on me, other than that it ran really well.. regards ricky

Could all be linked Ricky - what about the CTS? Also if you're getting fuel cut on boost it could be a fuel pressure problem, Tom had something similar with his Vitesse coupé recently.

Might just need another "shake down" run to get everything moving/working again that has been dormant for a while.
Cheers,
Dave

all new or nearly new, turbo I think is a mechanical setting problem, I have dug out the 16 pin connector this morning and connected it up has 2 faults the turbo boost control because I use a greddy profec 11 controller and the map sensor which I disconnected when it was running by accident.. cleared the faults.. and reset adaptions.. will try later for the emissions.. all with a Delphi diagnostics... regards ricky
