BMC 2017

Post by TDHFastback » Sun Jun 04, 2017 9:16 pm

Hi all
Well that time of year looms again.
The BMC.
I've been in touch with Sara and she is having a bit of a change around this year, re the stands to try and eliminate the large areas of "empty" space on the field.
Basically she will allot the required amount of space for each club stand depending on how many cars are actually pre booked eg if she has 5 800s booked then we will get a stand for 5 cars.
In the past its been a standard plot for each club, which has left some well attended marks being squeezed into too little space and others such as "The blue Allegro, with beige interior and vitesse wheels driven by a man called mark from Scunthorpe Club" getting a huge plot.

So if you want your car on the 800 stand then you HAVE to pre book. Details can be found here.

http://www.bmcblrally.co.uk/entry-form/

If you just turn up on the day with your beautiful flagship piece of loveliness you'll won't be allowed on the stand and will have to park with all the wobbly nondesrcipt tripe.
As usual I've asked for us to be between the 75's and SD1's
So guys, lets get as many bookings in as possible and take over the field. Remember what the Vikings did in the northeast !!! and we've got one of their ships on our badge 8)
Can someone who does facetwit please advertise this fact as 20th century technology give me the heebeegeebee's
Thank you
Kate :D

Thanks for the heads-up Kate - am i correct in thinking where it says "Club" on the booking Form as usual we put down "R800 Club"?
Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Kate! :D
I'll probably have to do my "plain paper" entry form again as i'm not too sure if the new printer i bought a year ago still works! Reckon i print something out about once a year, if that but the moment i don't have a working printer...................... there's shed loads i need/want to print out!  :D
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Kate, good to see you back on, if you need anything from the club let me know, our Events Secretary, Andy Foden lives over that side of the country if you need a hand. Regalia will be launched shortly, I'll send you the details when we have them.

Little bump for the thread with a useful bit of information - i had an email from Sara at the weekend reminding me that the cut-off for entries going on the club stand is this coming Saturday, July 1st so we (me inlcluded!) need to extract our digits and get those entry forms posted! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Well done Dave.
I'm afraid your going to have to hold the fort this weekend. My health still isnt great and I am unable to make it.
To say I'm gutted is an understatement as its the first show I've missed in 7 years.

Really sorry to hear you're not well Kate and that you won't be able to make it! Hope you have a speedy recovery and i know you'll be missed there!

I'll do my best to hold the fort and i'm sure whoever else turns up on the day will do the same.

Get well soon anyway! :D

Dave

Looks like it's going to be a pretty empty club stand this year! My health has nose-dived over the past 24 hours and i doubt it will bounce back as quickly. That means i won't be going either.

Not to mention the weather! It's currently thundering (electrical storm) and the forecast suggests the weather will be the same tomorrow as today, been raining this morning so the field at Ferry Meadows will be soggy already.

All we need now is for another deluge and the show will probably be cancelled/postponed anyway!

Guess what? The heavens have just opened! If the weather is the same 35-40miles west of here then i doubt the show will go ahead anyway. :(
Cheers,
Dave

Well another Peterborough has come and gone but it was a cracking day, weather, unlike the last 5 weeks was dry and warm and there was some seriously nice metal to be seen. The array of cars making a field in Ferry Meadows resemble a museum of all the greats from the BMC/BL,ARG,ROVER stable.
There were a few bargains to be had in the Auto jumble, front koni shocks for £25 for example, that gives me a complete set now, so well worth the trip alone.
One of the down sides of being a committee member is there is very little time to take photographs, as there is always a constant stream of owners to talk too, many of them don't own 800's but usually have done at some point in their life and the interest is still there.
We were fortunate enough to have 3 early Coupe's on the stand, which is apt given the Coupe's 25th birthday this year.
Bob Beatties gorgeous Nightfire Red Coupe was only the 75th one off the line in July 1992. Peter Simpson's British Racing Green example was the 153rd off the tracks in September 1992 and my own Coupe born in March 1993 was number 202 off the line wearing a fetching White Gold coat of paint.

If you look closely you can see Pete's BRG Coupe squeezed in between the other 2, hopefully someone will have taken a few more pics.
Look forward to next year.
