It's a biological fact women (in general) aren't configured in the correct manner to understand Garrett turbos or even the humble OHV engine.
In the same way, we as men aren't correctly configured to understand the importance of a Gucci handbag or Jimmy Choo shoes.

Glad you found some either way James! Are you going to take a mould and produce replicas?

Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold
Progress has slowed somewhat, largely due to work and rain! Strange to say it after weeks of no rain and temperatures never dropping below 25 degrees.
I got the thermostat housing on with a new genuine Rover thermostat. Then started prepping the turbo to go back on. I'm swapping to a stainless stud and nut kit for the manifold to fixings. Two of the original bolts were only finger tight and there was evidence that the manifold had been leaking.
Studs fitted with a bit of copper slip. The two on the right didn't feel great, but screwed in right to the back.
Then I fitted my new banjo water pipe from the turbo, and new downpipe studs. Also got my new upgraded manifold gasket.
Then I fitted the turbo and started torqueing it up. They are meant to be up to 45 Nm. The three on the left were fine. The two on the right just felt wrong so I nipped them up as far as I dared and left it. I slept on it over night and decided that it would bother me that they weren't correct and it would probably just blow again so knew I had to fix this. If I had continued rebuilding the rest of the car,, only to have a problem, I would have more to strip off to fix it. SO I took the turbo off again and have ordered a helicoil kit to fix it.
My new grommets arrived. Check out the size difference from swelling. That's 20 years in a hot oily environment for you.
Fitted them to the rear top cover and then fitted the cam sprockets and set the timing.
Also fitted a new front timing cover crank oil seal. It was a quality one from Germany and has a double wiper seal lip that I haven't seen before. Didn't get any photos but hopefully you get what I mean.

Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold
I hate to say it James but that engine won't start! Look at the dimples in the camshaft pulleys behind the bolt where the woofruff key goes. They are in the same position.
That's the whole procedure for you explaining in pictures and ROvers words what i was saying.
I might be wrong and you have got it right but it looks wrong so worth checking before you end up pulling your hair out!

Don’t worry it’s right. Just a trick if the camera.

If you're sure then that's fine. If it won't start but just occasionally backfires, you'll know where to start looking.

Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold
Yes it’s fine, the washers are covering most of the slots so you can’t see. I’ll turn the five by hand to set the timing anyway before starting.
