One tiny problem with a wind deflector on a coupe - nowhere to attach it to!
Nothing is impossible. :D

The thing is, maybe all it needs is s very small lip inserted between the a-pillar and rubber trim, the piece fitted to the a-pillar. Im atleast going to try.

Don't forget the window glass has to open with the door Henrik. Maybe a higed wind deflector but you'd have to make something bespoke for it.

Dave

No Dave, I dont mean a regular ABS large slab of plastic. I mean a very thin piece wedged between the rubber trims in the opening. It is quite possible to push a slim piece of plastic (think OverHead-sheet) at least 1/2 inch. Then it could protrude some 5-10mm just making a step for the air to pass the problem area which is the corner of the black triangular rubber thing by the mirror.

That might work Henrik - give it a try!

I might be wrong on this but i think the most noise comes from the top of the A pillar area where it joins the roof and so on.

I suppose if you had a wind tunnel you could identify it easier and sort the noise that way. I know if i have the sunroof open (even on tilt) it gets incredibly noisy above 60mph.
Cheers,
Dave

In my case the wind starts to make a noise and really break through at ~75mph and its worse in the drivers side. If pressing a finger on the top corner of the black triangular rubber/plastic thing helps so its coming from there. I did take it all apart a few years ago to soften it up and after finally adding a small strip of rubber it was better. But its definately coming from that corner.

Its not crutial though as I seldom go above 65mph. But I will try to see what a small lip could do as an engineering experiment. (Probably nothing!!)

That's given me an idea Henrik , let me think a little longer on it and i'll scribble a picture down, photo it and post it on here.

Both coupes look very classy indeed. And still look like premium cars parked alongside the more modern Lexus 8)

The new RC Coupe is a very interesting proposition as an 800 Coupe driver, but I'm in no rush to change my daily wheels just yet. :D

Yes, the shape of the 800 coupe grows every day. It's a really classy car! If I could afford it I would swap the Lexus (Gs300) for a next generation Gs450h. The trunk is too small on the older one because of the batteries but the next generation after 2012 is a lot better.

So whats wrong with this picture?

Yes. Spare tyre in the front.

Was hitting a large rock on my way to work the other day at speed. I just wasnt paying attention and had some bad luck. Tyre is likely to be messed up without the possibility to be repaired so will probably need a new tyre. Not great!

Yes, but still annoyed about not seeing the rock. It was huge! One good thing is that the exact same tyre is still available so I can change just the one and putting it in the rear.

I can really recommend this tyre. Good Year Eagle F1 91Y assymetric 3. Pretty cheap and good wearing quality.

I can really recommend giving the side wall strenght (load index) some thinking as this affects the ride and comfort. I was thinking about getting the 87Y as they are softer and what the later 17s once were delivered with but I think these are better. My previous were 94Y and they were too hard and had worse tracking on the motorway where there were grooves (everywhere). A softer side wall tends too give a better ride in our speeds.
