A small bit of paper fell from behind the dash tonight and it's got several letters and numbers on.
One side says Clock No. and a few rows including modules 1 to 3, core mains, trunk
The core one has number 07894 27344 and the other side has Rover 800 series at the top and 4049 YMC11546
Cell No with a handwritten "2"
Mod with a handwritten "AE"
Issue with a handwritten "F"
Anyone know what this means ? It was held in place by a rubber band which I'm guessing has been on the car since it was made.
Production tag.

Re: Production tag.
What do you mean "Cell No"?
As for the others, YMC11546 appears to not be a listed product on RImmers (or anywhere else on the wibbly-wobbly-web) so i'm guessing it's a sub-assembly of something.
As for the others, "F" issued the parts for the sub-assembly, "AE" either gave out the "MOD"ification or perhaps was the "Moderator" to confirm that it all match up quality-wise and the 4049 is Week 40, 1994 - year number backwards to confuse the competition who are trying to reverse-engineer it.
This is based on my knowledge of production logs/recording from about that era although not at ARG/Rover Group but in other factories where similar methods were used.
As such, i may have got it totally wrong but if i have, i doubt i'm that far away in the great scheme of things.

Re: Production tag.
Production areas can be known as cells sometimes?

Re: Production tag.
True - i wondered if the long number was being referred to as a cell number as in cellphone. It's too short though.

Hi..'YMC..' is a code that I think usually refers to wiring looms or harnesses. I thought I recognised the sequence having had problems with my aribag system. If you use this link and type in the 'YMC' you'll see the series. Problem is Rover's changed part numbers for varying reasons, eg. if they changed to a different supplier..
