Something like this but without the word Rover but it might be difficult to find it without "Rover" or get it to look right without so most likely as below, I want to keep it dark and to match the rest on the car. Think it is 46mm, need to confirm that though.

I asked about getting some slightly domed thick gel thickers made but minimum quantity was 150 or so

Leave it with me Jim, there's a US site that does exactly what you've just described, i'll try and remember the name of the site and find a link for you.

Dave

There you are Jim, that's part of their standard range, available in whatever size you like from 35-90mm.

They will also modify the designs to your spec/sizes and make them like it for a little more.

Dave

Good luck Jim, they've been pretty helpful when i've contacted them then my project took a slightly different direction so i didn't pursue the original plan.

Dave

Other half of the gearbox mount is complete and both parts now welded, just to tidy up the corners and edges then paint ready for fitting.

Image

Image

The rear suspension turrets are back from machining they now have a wider centre slot and 2 narrow M6 bolt slots added

Image

A little more welding and these parts should make up the rear suspension coilover top mounts to go inside the turrets.

All good stuff Jim! Out of curiosity, what, if anything, have you done about the fragile bush/bearing assembly in the front upper wishbones?

The reason i ask is i've just developed a mod (and it's fairly cheap compared to what Rimmers sold the originals for) for them that is looking good.
Cheers,
Dave

Mine are fine at the moment, I fitted new genuine Rover top arms not long after I got the car, although they are now old they have only done a few thousand miles. I kept the old ones in case I need to fabricate something.
Do you have a link to your modified versions?

I don't have a link as yet, got plenty of pics and will do a write up at some point.

Fairly simple conversion using off the shelf universal bushes and re-using some of the old bits. The originals were over-engineered, over-complicated and had inherent weaknesses as a result.

Still at the testing stages at the moment but looking good so far! :D

Dave

More great work there Jim!

Is the idea of the adjustable cups on the rear suspension to dial in more camber?

Dave

Yes, it allows for proper rear camber adjustment but because the coilover top mounts are now solid it will need a slightly softer spring, the current springs are too stiff but I got away with it last year as the poly bushes allowed some movement.

It's all a big compromise from the sound of it Jim! I would think it's going to be quite a harsh ride on the roads but perfect on track days?
