Re: Fastback's cars.

Thanks for the reply. Don't believe too much pressure, viz; got it sorted, regassed, was working, gas leaks out as evidenced by UV residue, now at three quarters and not working. Regas to just into green, still not working. Therefore not too much pressure, reasonable logic? I was wondering if the c...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Silly question - the light isn't on in the "ECON" button is it? That will defeat the AC and pressing the button will put it out and restart the AC. As for the self diagnostics, i'm pretty sure the only facility is the one that does the sensors with the readout via lighting one or more buttons on the...

Re: Fastback's cars.

You may have too much pressure in it Mark. The trinary switch stops the compressor clutch on both low and high pressure but what's the pressure with the engine running and the AC switched on? Does it change?

Yeah it disappeared into the internet equivalent of a black hole - a "Bad Gateway" apparently.

Good to hear TGM is up and running again, also your extra knowledge was useful in getting the new one bled! :D

Re: Thoresby Hall - 30 08 21

Great pics there Chris! Many youngsters have no idea what a Rover 800 is, the most they know is the 25, 45 and 75 and even then usually only by their MG counterparts of ZR, ZS and ZT designations. That said, go back 15-20 years and there were 800s everywhere, ignoring the one parked on your drive, w...

Re: Astra Twintops I've Owned So Far

If they're in that sweet spot Chris where the cars are cheap and so are the parts, it suggests they're at the bottom of their price curve so nice ones will go up in value sometime soon. If you stock-pile the common parts that fail plus a small stash of the less common failures, i reckon you'll hae a...

Quite a collection in a short time Chris! I can see a red trailer being made from one of them at some point though............... :D

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Epic! Fantastic work. If you have any spare ABS sensors available, I may need some for TGMs next MOT. Please PM. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371033272993 That fits the RH front Scott, fairly sure they have RH front 2/400 sensors that will fit the LH front on the 800s. I bought a pair several years b...

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic

Haha I know. I bought it. It is second hand but still in good shape. Yes indeed. There should be more models. I contacted makers of models but it is like speaking to the eu parlement. "we plan to do so but we do not know when". The model manufacturers will eventually decide to make the model and th...

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic

Haha no I did not. Thanks mate! :) I was going to say what are the chances of finding an SD1 model on a random walk somewhere in the countryside! I guess you bought it then? Shame there aren't any nice ones for the 800, there are a few around but not particularly well detailed and don't look that r...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

That's a nuisance them both going at the same time Scott! Not sure if a rebuild kit would work, if they've only lasted 2 years then it suggests there's a problem elsewhere causing them seals to break such as a rough bore or similar. Might be worth a go to get you out of trouble if you can't find a c...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

I remember now that the fluid was changed at the MOT as he had to fit a second hand master cylinder and two rear discs and needed help getting the pistons in as he hadn't undone the bleed screw. Having said that, I have just looked in the reservoir again and it is definitely manky! I'd get the flui...

Re: Number 58!

Most have moved on mate so a lot will probably think someone's just dumped an old car on the street. 🙄🤣 Honestly at the minute I'm beginning to question my purchase of it. Maybe when I've sorted some of the niggles I'll feel differently. It is surprising how many people are interested in it though....

Did you find the SD1 model during your walk Marc?

Lovely pics as always, some nice countryside round there! :D
